What It Is
Coleus forskohlii is a member of the mint family whose root contains forskolin. It arrived in supplement marketing through laboratory work rather than through traditional use for this purpose, which is unusual for a botanical.
Forskolin activates adenylate cyclase, an enzyme that raises intracellular cAMP. That is a genuine, well-characterised biochemical action — forskolin is used as a laboratory tool precisely because it does it so reliably.

It raises a cell messenger
cAMP is a second messenger: hormones arrive at the cell surface and cAMP carries the instruction inward. Raising it changes how cells respond to several signals, including insulin.
Laboratory reliability is not human outcome
Doing something dependable in a dish is not the same as producing a measurable change in a person taking a small oral dose. The gap between those two statements is where most supplement marketing lives.
The human trials are thin
Small, short, and inconsistent, mostly examining body composition rather than glucose. Some found modest effects, others found none. This is a promising ingredient rather than a demonstrated one.
The Dose Question
Where forskolin has been studied in people, the doses used were typically 250 mg of a 10 percent standardised extract twice a day. That is a specific and reasonably large amount.
Inside a 200 mg blend shared with twenty-one other ingredients, the amount here is necessarily a fraction of that. This page states that plainly rather than implying the trial dose is in the bottle.

Cautions Worth Knowing
Forskolin has been reported to lower blood pressure and to affect platelet aggregation. At the share present in a small blend that is unlikely to matter, but anyone on blood pressure medication or blood thinners should still mention it.
It is also worth avoiding before surgery, along with the rest of this formula, since bleeding and blood pressure are both things a surgical team would rather control.

That is the claim it is usually sold on and the human evidence is weak. Small studies on body composition have produced mixed results at doses far above a blend share.
